The Food App
Food, Learning & Wellbeing
The primary objectives of the food app are to identify the causal impact of food-based learning on children’s eating behaviours, generate useable qualitative data and support online learning. Educationalists, healthcare professionals, food manufacturers, and strategic policy planners will be able to develop a meaningful understanding to drive actual change. Food-based learning is delivered at a variety of settings, as part of school curriculums, health care centres and community-based initiatives.

How does the food app trial work?
The 3-week food app trial is expected to commence during the 2026 Spring Term. Four primary schools selected from across the UK will take part. Nominated teachers, nutritionists and children KS1 (5-7) and KS2 (7-11) age cohorts, will be provided with ready to use tablets with IT support.
As part of the pupils’ homework, children with the help of parents/carers will use the food app to keep a daily diary of their daily food consumption.
